Dear Parents and Guardians,

Here's a summary of the update on the school meal program.

Your child will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch at school until October 2, 2025. This is happening because the Michigan state budget, which funds the statewide free meal program, has not been passed yet.

What's Happening? ☹️

The Michigan state legislature has not yet approved the educational funding bill for the upcoming school year. This delay directly affects the Michigan School Meals Program, which normally allows the school to provide free meals to every student all year long.

Free Meals Will Continue (For Now)

Despite the state funding issue, the school will use federal guidelines to continue offering free breakfast and lunch to all students. This service is guaranteed to continue through October 2, 2025. You're encouraged to have your child participate in the meal program.

Your To-Do List 📝

  • For now: There is no action needed from you.

  • In the future: The school will eventually send out application forms. It is critical that all families complete this application when it becomes available, as the data provides essential funding for other school programs, regardless of the meal funding outcome.

The school is hopeful the state legislature will resolve the issue soon and will keep you updated. If you have questions, you can contact
